Siento que esta carta llegue un poco tarde. Iba a hacerla el fin de semana pasado pero no lo conseguí (estaba demasiado ocupada tomando el sol!) Habeis pedido ya el nuevo LP de John Illsley “Never Told a Soul”? Sale a la venta el Viernes 22 de Junio y mientras que escribo esto, John está viajando alrededor del Reino Unido haciendo varias entrevistas en prensa/radio y TV para promocionarlo, así que estar pendiente de vuestros periódicos locales. Si podéis ver Central TV, o Yorkshire TV, podréis ver la entrevista e incluso un video.

Más tarde durante este mes y el mes que viene, probablemente visitaremos algunas ciudades europeas para hacer más o menos lo mismo. Pero no sabemos todavía donde vamos, así que no os puedo dar más detalles. Tendréis que mirar vuestros periódicos locales.

Re: Comfort and Joy: un LP de música compuesta por Mark para esta película va a ser estrenado en el Reino Unido el 27 de Julio y la película se estrena el 31 de Agosto en el Reino Unido. El estreno para el resto del mundo, no se ha decidido todavía, pero os lo haré saber en mi próxima carta. Los músicos en este LP son Terry Williams (batería), Guy Fletcher (teclado), Christ White (saxofón) y Micky Feat (bajo).

Re: Cal; Las fechas de estreno en el Reino Unido son las siguientes: Single (no sabemos todavía que canción) -24 de Agosto, LP -21 de Septiembre, Película -14 de Septiembre. Igual que con Comfort and Joy, la película se estrenará en diferentes fechas en el resto del mundo. Os haré saber en mi próxima carta. Los músicos en Cal son Terry Williams (bateria), John Illsley (bajo), Paul Brady (guitarras etc), y Guy Fletcher (teclado).

Todavía no tenemos planes definitivos referente al siguiente LP de Dire Straits o nueva gira, pero por favor, estar seguros ya se está discutiendo! Mark ya ha escrito algunas canciones muy buenas…

Mientras tanto, él está a punto de acabar su trabajo de producción con Aztec Camera, y el LP saldrá a la venta a finales de este año con WEA Records. El LP de Tina Turner ya ha salido esta semana en el Reino Unido y también en USA (donde ha entrado en las listas en el número 34 como una bala). A menos que seais nuevos en la lista, ya sabréis que una de las canciones de su nuevo LP es Private Dancer la cual fue escrita pro Mark (también el título del album). Tina está interesada en poner esta canción como su nuevo single –pero, como casi todas las canciones de Mark, es muy larga y necesitaría ser editada. Os haré saber cuando EMI me diga que se ha decidido.

Muchos de vosotros (especialmente los Irlandeses) me han preguntado sobre Paul Brady (uno de los otros artistas que llevamos): bien, él también tiene una canción en el nuevo disco de Tina Turner –se llama Steel Claw. También tiene dos canciones en el nuevo LP de Dave Edmunds que saldrá a la venta el 1 de Julio.

Sorry if this newsletter is a bit late. I was going to do it last weekend and never got round to it (too busy sunbathing!). Have you ordered your John Illsley Never Told A Soul LP yet? It comes out on Friday June 22nd, and as I write this, John is going round the UK doing various press/radio/TV interviews to promote it, so keep a look out in your local papers. If you get Central TV, or Yorkshire TV, you'll see him interviewed and the video will also be on.
Later this month and next month, we will probably visit some European countries to do the same sort of thing, but we don't know yet where we're going so I can't give you any details. You'll just have to check your local press.
Re: Comfort and Joy: An EP of Mark's music for this film is released in the UK on July 27th, and the film opens in the UK on August 31st. The release date for the rest of the world have not yet been set, but I'll let you know in my next newsletter. We still don't have any definite plans re the next Dire Straits studio LP or tour, but please be assured discussions are underway! Mark has already written some good songs...
Meanwhile, he is just about to complete his production work with Aztec Camera, and their LP will be out on WEA Records later this year. Unless you're new on the mailing list, you will already know that one of the tracks on her LP is Private Dancer which Mark wrote (also the album title).
