Hola a todo el mundo,
Sorpresa, sorpresa! Justo cuando imaginabais que no veríais a la banda en
directo durante un largo tiempo, aquí os traigo unas buenas noticias: Dire
Straits estará en un concierto benéfico este verano en Londres…
La fecha: Sábado 11 de Junio. Lugar: Wembley Stadium
Todo esto ha sido arreglado en las últimas seis semanas, y la razón de que
esta carta sea tan temprana, y enviada por correo urgente, es porque el
anuncio oficial del concierto se hará el 16 de Marzo y quería que vosotros
lo supieseis al mismo tiempo.
Aunque la banda normalmente no elegiría hacer un concierto en un lugar del
tamaño de un estadio, de verdad les apetecía hacer este –es un concierto
por el 70 cumpleaños de Nelson Mandela, y es para recaudar dinero para la
lucha contra el apartheid y para ayudar a los niños en Sudáfrica. El 11 de
Junio de 1988 es también el 24 Aniversario desde que Madela está preso.
Como ya sabréis, la banda está totalmente en contra del régimen de
Sudáfrica y esperamos que este concierto no consiga solamente mucho
dinero, sino que también se preste atención a lo que está pasando allí.
Las entradas para el concierto son 25 libras. Sé que son caras, pero la
mayor parte irá a beneficencia y también están los costes de hacer el
concierto (alquilar el estadio ya cuesta más de 200.000 libras!!) mas IVA
y resto de impuestos, etc. El concierto empieza sobre el mediodía, y
habrán actos importantes y artistas apareciendo durante la tarde noche.
Además de los Straits, Simple Minds, Whitney Houston y George Michael ya
han confirmado su asistencia. No os puedo decir los demás actos ya que de
momento no están confirmados al 100% todavía, pero pienso que os va a
encantar. Dire Straits será el último grupo (aparte del final) a las
08:00pm más o menos, y tocarán un set de una hora más o menos.
En el contrato del grupo para aparecer en este concierto, hemos puesto la
condición de que los miembros del Information Service, pueden conseguir
tickets a través de esta oficina, y hemos bloqueado varios miles de
entradas para vosotros. Encontraréis un formulario para hacer vuestras
reservas en la parte de atrás de esta carta. Por favor, intentar hacer la
reserva lo antes posible porque, obviamente, conforme se vaya acercando la
fecha del concierto, tendré que devolver las entradas no vendidas para que
se puedan vender al público en general (esto será más o menos a principios
de Mayo).
Podréis reservar TANTAS ENTRADAS COMO QUERAIS, para vosotros y vuestros
amigos. Diciendo esto, confío en que no las revenderéis más caras de lo
que os han costado. Si alguna vez viene a nuestros oídos que alguno de
vosotros lo ha hecho, estas personas serán automáticamente borradas de la
lista. Además, crearíais una situación donde es posible que en un futuro,
no pueda conseguir entradas prioritarias a través del Information Service,
con lo cual, todos los miembros se verían afectados. Así que, por favor,
no olvidar que ES un concierto benéfico!
Pensamos que hemos bloqueado entradas más que suficientes para que todos
los miembros reciban las que pidan (he hecho una estimación basándome en
la sección “tickets” del DSIS del año pasado), con lo que vuestras
entradas están prácticamente garantizadas. De cualquier modo, si se da el
caso tan improbable donde nos encontremos que nos quedamos sin entradas,
la gente que ha pedido grandes cantidades, tendrá que aceptar unas cuantas
entradas menos de las que pidió. Estoy segura de que entendéis lo difícil
que es hacer una estimación de las cantidades que se pueden necesitar… no
estoy segura cuando recibiremos los tickets aquí (no han sido impresos
todavía) así que, que no os entre el pánico si pasan un par de semanas.
Las enviaré tan pronto como pueda.
Como ya sabréis los que habéis estado antes en el Wembley Stadium, todas
las entradas son de “admisión general”. En otras palabras, no hay sitios
sentados. Cuando lleguéis el día del concierto, podréis poneros donde más
os apetezca. Será de pie en pista y sentado en los laterales, con lo que
aseguraros el llegar pronto para coger un buen sitio.
Como hay casas muy cerca del Estadio, se impondrá un toque de queda (una
hora en la que la música TENDRA que terminar). Esto probablemente sea
sobre las 10 pm., con lo que no habrá problema para la gente que venga con
el transporte público.
DONDE IRÁ VUESTRO DINERO: 50% va para el Movimiento Anti-Apartheid, y el
otro 50% será dividido entre Oxfam, Christian Aid, Wa ron Want, Save the
Children, The Catholic Fund for Overseas Development, The Internacional
Defence and Aid Fund, y The Bishop Ambrose Reeves Trust.
La intención es que este concierto se grabe y televise en la mayoría de
los paises en el mundo, pero esto no es definitivo. Puede ser que se
televise en otra fecha más tarde en algunos países. Os podré dar más
detalles en mi carta de Mayo. Incidentalmente, es nuestra intención tocar
pase lo que pase (por supuesto siempre que se pueda… obviamente, si hay un
huracán o lago, no podremos hacerlo). Por supuesto, si finalmente se
televisa en directo quiere decir que todas las cadenas de televisión ya
han reservado su hora en el “aire”, con lo que se TIENE que hacer! Sólo
rezamos para que no llueva…
OTRAS NOTICIAS
Jack nos sorprendió a principios de Febrero diciéndonos que se casaba con
su novia australiana Maria. La boda fue el 14 de Febrero (día de San
Valentín) en Los Angeles, y están esperando gemelos en Julio. (Parece ser
que los mellizos están de moda en la actualidad!).
Entonces, ayer, Guy vino a la oficina con su novia Lori-Ann (la prima de
Jack…) y nos dijo que se habían prometido! Deber ser la época del año o
algo así!
Mark, Lourdes y los mellizos fueron a New York hace unas cuantas semanas,
y después Mark se irá a L.A. para producir algunas canciones para el
próximo LP de Randy Newman. Guy que también está trabajando en este album,
volará para unirse a ellos. Cuando se acabe (Mayo) es POSIBLE que Mark
escriba el tema oficial para la presentación de la TV Británica para los
Juegos Olímpicos de Seoul, aunque esto no está confirmado todavía –es
posible que no tenga tiempo de hacerlo! Obviamente el grupo van a tener
varios ensayos durante el mes de Mayo para el concierto de Wembley –hace
tiempo desde la última vez que tocaron juntos! No sé todavía cuando se
harán estos ensayos –todo esto se está planeando ahora.
Sé por vuestras cartas que muchos visteis a Mark en los conciertos de
Clapton, en Enero y Febrero –genial que los disfrutarais tanto. Desde
entonces, Mark ha estado haciendo varias cosas: el 11 de Febrero fue a
Manchester para tomar parte en un documental para Granada TV sobre su
compañero Steve Phillips. (A propósito, aquellos de vosotros que estéis
interesados en “pequeños hechos sobre la banda” deberías saber que el
padre de Steve –un escultor – fue en realidad la inspiración de la canción
de los Straits “In teh Gallery”!). Bueno, de vuelta al punto en cuestión:
los fans que vivan por la zona de Granada TV podrán ver el documental a
mitades de Abril (creo que será sobre el 14.) y es una parte de la serie
llamada “Celebration”. Todavía no hay planes de que se vaya a televisar en
otras televisiones, pero nunca se sabe… no perderlo de vista en caso de
que los altos mandos decidan cambiar de opinión. Parte de este documental
serán Mark, Steve y Brendan tocando –grabado en el club The Band on the
Wall de Manchester.
El día después de esto, Mark y Brendan se encontraron con Guy y Alan y
todos tocaron en un pequeño restaurante llamado “Le Papillon” en Corbridge
(entre Hexham y Newcastle). El propietario del restaurante es un amigo de
Mark y Alan. Mark pasó los días siguientes en Gleneagles en Escocia,
tomado parte de un clay-pigeon benéfico para el equipo JPS del conductor
de carreras Jackie Stewar. Aparentemente, Mark fue bastante bueno para ser
un principiante…
Las nominaciones de los premios Grammy: Mark consiguió una nominación en
la categoría “Mejor tema instrumental para una banda sonora” por la
Princesa Prometida, y la banda consiguió una nominación en la categoría
“Mejor interpretación en un video musical” por su contribución en el video
de “La princesa prometida”. Desgraciadamente, no ganaron ningún premio!
Por cierto, el tema principal de La Princesa Prometida” cantado por Willy
deVille (Storybook love” –el cual también aparece en su propio LP “Miracle”)
ha sido nominado para un Oscar! Willy aparecerá en directo en la Ceremonia
de la Academia de Premios para cantarla, el 11 de Abril. Este programa
tiene una de las mayores audiencias en el mundo y es televisada en directo
o un poco después casi en cada país, con lo que no olvidéis verlo!.
Willy también pasó la semana pasada haciendo promoción en España, UK,
Irlanda y Alemania, con lo que estoy intentando cuidar de él a la vez que
estoy haciendo esta carta, con lo que si la carta no parece demasiado
coordinada, es porque sigo haciendo breaks para hacer otras cosas!
Ambos Mark y Willy tienen nominaciones para los Premios Musicales de New
York que vienen –Mark por “mejor productor” y Willy por “mejor disco”,
“mejor vocalista masculino” y “mejor escritor” –todo por su LP “Miracle”,
con lo que está consiguiendo un poco de reconocimiento. Si vivís en el
Reino Unido, estaréis encantados de oír que el album ya está a la venta
(salió el 29 de Febrero). Por fin! La fecha fue pospuesta varias veces…
Parece ser que La Princesa Prometida (la película) saldrá a finales de
este mes en el Reino Unido, intentar ir a verla.
El album de John: A la venta en muchos países por Phonogram/Polygram el 18
de Abril, con un single (la canción falta por ser elegida) en la misma
fecha. El título del LP es “Glass”. Durante Abril, John estará haciendo
algo de promoción en el Reino Unido y en algunos países europeos y entre
unas cosas y otras, estará haciendo un video que acompañe al single.
Mark está de momento trabajando con Joan Armatrading en su próximo LP. Es
posible que hayáis escuchado que hace un par de semanas apareció en un
concierto benéfico en el Royal Albert Hall como parte de la Banda de Hill
Wyman All Star (también participó Phil Collins, Chris Rea, Ian Dury, Hedí
Grant, Terence Trent D´Arby, Ron Word y Kenney Jones). El concierto fue
para conseguir dinero para el Hospital para Niños de Ormond Street y fue
grabado. La compañía de Hill intentará editar el concierto en video pero
no tengo todavía ninguna fecha. (Por cierto, veréis a Alan como miembro de
la banda junto a Chris White este mes).
Para todos aquellos que habéis preguntado: si, gracias, me lo pasé
estupendamente en Australia. Pasé la noche de Año Nuevo en Melbourne, en
la playa, en una fiesta para celebrar el comienzo del año bicentenario en
Australia. El Primer Ministro Bob Hawke también estuvo allí con lo que,
como veis, estuve bien acompañada!! Me encontré con John y Tracey en
Sydney, y luego viajamos juntos toda la costa este hasta Cairos antes de
cruzar a Alice Springs y Perth. Fue genial ver a varios miembros
australianos de la lista mientras que estuve por allí, y me gustaría
saludar y dar las gracias en especial a Paul y Carmen en Brisbane, y a
Stephanie en Sarina Beach, por cuidar tan bien de mi!! Me encantaría
volver otra vez, pero desgraciadamente, tendré que esperar ya que me he
quedado sin dinero!!
UNAS CUANTAS PREGUNTAS Y RESPUESTAS
Qué miembros de la banda fuman? Mark, Terry y Guy
Qué miembros de la banda beben alcohol? Todos. Antes de que Jack se uniese
a la band, había dejado de beber alcohol, pero el empezó otra vez cuando
“Money for Nothing” consiguió llegar al número 1 en USA (el primer número
1 del grupo aquí) y el champagne empezó a fluir…
Cuando contestas cartas personalmente, utilizas el papel de “Damage
Management” –qué tiene que ver el logo del coche con Damage? Nada en
realidad! El coche en la parte superior se supone que representa el
cadillac rosa de Elvis, y el coche accidentado en la parte inferior es el
“Damage” (daño)… Nuestro papel antiguo, el cual seguro que algunos de
vosotros recordáis, era rosa fluorescente, pero lo cambiamos cuando nos
cambiamos a estas oficinas (Gracias a Dios –me daba dolor de cabeza sólo
con mirarlo…)
Cuándo empezaste a trabajar con la banda y qué pensaste de ellos al
principio? Empecé hace nueve años y medio (creo –ya he perdido la cuenta)
cuando Damage era una compañía muy pequeña. Me gustaron todos los miembros
de la banda –todos parecían con los pies en el suelo y muy amigables en
comparación con otros artistas con los que había trabajado en el pasado.
Muchos de vosotros habéis escrito preguntando sobre como conseguir un
trabajo en el mundo de la música, y como empecé etc.. Intento recopilar
varias notas. Lo hubiese tenido todo hecho ya para esta cartas, excepto
que tuve que darme mucha prisa en otras cosas debido al concierto. Cuando
has termine, os lo haré saber en una carta futura, para que aquellos de
vosotros que estéis interesados me podáis mandar un s.a.e. para notas –es
posible que os sean de utilidad para aquellos que penséis en trabajar en
este negocio.
Cuantos "Money For Nothing" shaped picture discs había? 7,500.
Tienes algunos calendarios o camisetas de sobra? Si, pero no muchos. Si
queréis comprar un calendario, valen 5 libras y sólo están disponibles
para fans dentro del Reino Unido. Cheques tienen que ir a pagar a “Dire
Straits Information Service”. Marca tu sobre “Calendar” y no olvides
incluir tu propio nombre y dirección!! Enviaré todos los que tengo y una
vez que los stocks se hayan acabado, simplemente recibiréis vuestro cheque
de vuelta. Las camisetas también son 5 libras y otra vez, los cheques
tienen que ir a pagar a “Dire Straits Information Service”. Marca tu sobre
“T-Shirts” y hacerme saber la talla que queréis (S, M, L ó XL) y vuestro
nombre y dirección. Una vez más, cuando los stocks se acaben, simplemente
os devolveré el cheque de vuelta.
También podéis conseguir una lista de las guitarras de Mark, un plan y
lista de la batería de Terry, las canciones del “Communique” y las del EP
“Twisting by the Pool”. Todo lo que tenéis que hacer es mandarme un sobre
ya con sellos, y decirme que es lo que queréis –GUITARRAS, BATERIA,
CANCIONES 1 o CANCIONES 2.
No tenemos ningún set de fotos de momento, pero espero poder conseguir un
nuevo set para mediados de este año, con lo que os lo haré saber
(seguramente después del concierto de Junio).
Cuando me hagáis el pedido de lo que se ha ofrecido antes, no olvidar que
estaré en esos momentos de lleno con las reservas de las entradas para el
concierto y eso es más importante, con lo que si tenéis que esperar un
poquito antes de recibir los artículos, por favor, no llamarme para
chillarme!
Aquellos de vosotros que todavía estáis esperando respuesta a vuestras
cartas que mandasteis hace unos meses –no desespereis. Hubieron tantas
cartas cuando volví de Australia, que todavía no he terminado de
responderlas. Todavía me quedan unas 120. volveré con ellas tan pronto

“for sale/wanted” y no viene en esta carta, SALDRA en la siguiente. Ando

Dear everyone,
Surprise, surprise! Just when you thought you were in for a long wait
before you saw the band play live again, here's some good news: Dire
Straits are headlining a charity concert this summer in London...
The date: Saturday June 11th. The place: Wembley Stadium.
This has all been arranged within the last six weeks, and the reason this
newsletter is early, and has been sent first class mail, is because the
official announcement of the concert is scheduled for March 16th, and I
wanted you to get this at the same time.
Although the band wouldn't normally CHOOSE to play a venue the size of the
Stadium, they felt they really wanted to do this one - it's a concert for
Nelson Mandela's 70th birthday, and is to raise money for the fight
against apartheid, and to help children in Southern Africa. June 11th 1988
is also the 24th anniversary of the day Mandela was convicted. As you
probably know, the group are totally opposed to the regime in South Africa,
and we're hoping this concert will not only raise a lot of money, but will
also draw attention to the appalling situation there.
Tickets for the show are £25.00 each. I know it's expensive, but the bulk
of this goes to charity, and then there is the cost of putting on the show
(hire of the Stadium alone is over £200,000.00!), plus VAT, PRS, etc. The
concert starts at about midday, and there will be several major acts and
guest artists appearing throughout the afternoon and evening. Apart from
the Straits, Simple Minds, Whitney Houston and George Michael have already
confirmed that they will be appearing. I can't tell you the other acts
being considered at this stage because they are not 100% confirmed yet,
but I think you'll find it's a pretty good bill! Dire Straits will be the
last band on (apart from a finale) at about 8pm, and will play a set of
approx. one hour.
We have made it a condition of the band's contract to appear at this show
that Info. Service members may get their tickets through this office, and
we have block-booked several thousand for you. You will find a booking
form at the back of this newsletter. Please try and get your order in
fairly soon, because obviously nearer the concert date I will have to
return any tickets we have left so they can be sold to the general public
(this will probably be early-May).
You may order AS MANY TICKETS AS YOU LIKE, for yourself and friends. In
saying this, I am relying on you not to sell them for more than their face
value. If it ever comes to our attention that any of you has done this,
those concerned will automatically be taken off the mailing list. You
would also cause a situation whereby I could not in future provide
priority tickets through the Info. Service, so all members would suffer.
Also, don't forget, it IS a charity gig!
We think we have block-booked more than enough tickets to let all Info.
Service members receive their full ticket requirement (I've estimated the
guantity from last year's D.S.I.S. Questionnaire "tickets" section:) so we
are practically guaranteeing tickets for you. However, in the extremely
unlikely event that we find we're rnnning out, people who have ordered
very large quantities may have to accept a couple of tickets less than
they asked for. I'm sure you'll realise how difficult it is to make an
accurate estimate of the number needed... I'm not sure when we will
receive our allocation here (the tickets haven't been printed yet) so
please don't panic if a few weeks go by. I'll send them out as soon as I
can.
As those of you who have attended Wembley Stadium shows before will know,
all tickets are "general admission" tickets. In other words, there is no
seat allocation there. When you arrive on the day of the show, you can
select anywhere you like. It's standing on the pitch, and seating all
around the sides, so make sure you get there early to get a good place.
Because there are houses very close to the Stadium, there will be a curfew
set (a time by which the music MUST finish). It will probably be about
10pm, so there will be no problem for people getting public transport.
WHERE YOUR CHARITY MONEY WILL GO: 50% will go to the Anti-Apartheid
Movement, and the other 50% will be split between Oxfam, Christian Aid,
War On Want, Save The Children, The Catholic Fund For Overseas Development,
The International Defence And Aid Fund, and The Bishop Ambrose Reeves
Trust.
The intention is that the concert be filmed and shown live on television
in most countries in the world, but that's not absolutely definite. It may
end up being shown at a later date in some or all countries. I will be
able to give you fuller details in the May newsletter. Incidently, it is
our intention to play whatever the weather (well, within reason...
obviously if there's a hurricane or something, we won't be able to). Of
course, if it does end up going out LIVE on TV, that means the TV
companies will have reserved the air-time, so it's GOT to go ahead! We're
just praying it doesn't bucket down with rain all day...
other news
Jack surprised us all at the beginning of February by announcing that he
was marrying his Australian girlfriend Maria. The wedding was on February
14th (Valentine's Day) in Los Angeles, and they are expecting twins in
July. (Twins are obviously in fashion at the moment!).
Then yesterday, Guy came into the office with his girlfriend Lori-Ann (Jack's
cousin...) and they announced that they had just got engaged! Must be the
time of the year or something!
Mark, Lourdes & their twins went to New York a couple of weeks back, after
which Mark goes to L.A. to produce some tracks for Randy Newman's next LP.
Guy, who will also be working on the album, is flying out to join them
there. When that is finished (May) Mark MAY be writing the theme music for
the British TV presentation of the Seoul Olympic Games, although this
isn't confirmed yet - he may not have time to do it! Obviously the band
are going to have to do some rehearsals during May for the Wembley concert
-it's a long time since they played together! I don't know where
rehearsals will take place yet - this is all being planned right now.
I know from your letters that a lot of you saw Mark at the Clapton shows
in January and February - glad you enjoyed them so much. Since then, Mark
has done quite a few things: On February 11th he went to Manchester to
take part in a Granada TV documentary about his mate Steve Phillips. (Incidently,
those of you who are interested in "little known facts about the band"
should note that Steve's dad - a sculptor - was actually the inspiration
for the Straits song "In The Gallery"!). Anyway, back to the point:
Granada TV area fans will be able to see the documentary in mid-April (I
think the 14th) and it is part of a series called "Celebration". There are
no plans for it to be shown on the rest of the ITV network yet, but you
never know... keep a lookout for it just in case the powers-that-be change
their minds. Part of the documentary footage is of Mark, Steve and Brendan
playing - filmed at The Band On The Wall club in Manchester.
The day after this, Mark and Brendan met up with Guy and Alan, and they
all played at a small restaurant called "Le Papillon" in Corbridge (between
Hexham and Newcastle). The restaurant owner is a friend of Mark and Alan.
Mark then spent the next few days at Gleneagles in Scotland, taking part
in a charity clay-pigeon shoot for racing-driver Jackie Stewart's JPS
Team. Apparently he was surprisingly good for a beginner...
Grammy award nominations: Mark got a nomination in the category "Best
Instrumental Score For A Motion Picture" for the "Princess Bride"
soundtrack, and the band got a nomination in the category "Best
Performance In A Music Video" for their part in the Prince's Trust
videocassette. Unfortunately, neither won! Incidently, Willy deVille's
theme song for "Princess Bride" ("Storybook Love" - which is also included
on his own LP "Miracle") has been nominated for an OSCAR! Willy will be
appearing live at the actual Academy Awards ceremony to sing it, on April
11th. This has one of the biggest TV audiences in the world, as it is
televised either live or shortly afterwards in just about every country,
so don't forget to watch.
Willy has spent the past week doing TV/radio/press promotion in Spain, UK,
Ireland and Germany, so I'm trying to look after him at the same time as
doing this newsletter, so if it seems a bit disjointed, it's because I
keep having to break off to do other things!
Both Mark and Willy have nominations in the forthcoming New York Music
Awards - Mark for "Best Producer", and Willy for "Best Record", "Best Male
Vocalist" and "Best Songwriter" - all for the "Miracle" LP, so it's
getting quite a bit of recognition. If you live in the UK, you'll be
pleased to hear the album is now out (released February 29th). At last!
The release date was delayed several times... It looks as if the "Princess
Bride" film will open at the end of this month in the UK, so try and get
to see it.
John's Album: Released in most countries on Phonogram/PolyGram on April
18th, with a single (track to be decided) on the same date. LP title is
still "Glass". During April, John will be doing some radio/press promotion
in the UK and some other European countries, and between now and then, he
will be doing a video to go with the single.
Mark is currently working with Joan Armatrading on her next LP. You may

To all those of you who asked: yes, thanks, I had a great holiday in
Australia. Spent New Year's Eve on the beach at Melbourne, at a party to
launch the start of Australia's bi-centenary year. Prime Minister Bob
Hawke was also there so you can see I kept good company!!! I met up with
John and Tracey in Sydney, and then travelled all up the east coast to
Cairns before going across to Alice Springs and Perth. It was nice to see
several Ozzie members of the Info. Service as I went around, and I'd like
to say a special hello and thanks to Paul and Carmen in Brisbane, and to
Stephanie at Sarina Beach, for looking after me so well! I can't wait to
go back again, but unfortunately I'll have to, because I haven't got any
money left now!

Which band members smoke? Mark, Terry and Guy.
Which band members drink alcohol? All of them. Before Jack joined the band,
he had given up drinking, but he started again when "Money For Nothing"
went to No. 1 in the USA (the group's first No. 1 single there) and the
champagne started flowing...
When you answer letters personally, you use "Damage Management" paper -
what has the car logo got to do with Damage? Nothing really! The car at
the top is supposed to represent Elvis's pink cadillac, and the crashed
car at the bottom is the "damage" bit... Our old notepaper, which some of
you may remember, was fluorescent pink, but we changed it when we moved to
these offices (thank goodness - it gave me a headache just looking at it...)
How many "Money For Nothing" shaped picture discs were there? 7,500.
When did you first start working for the band and what did you think of
them at first? I started about nine and a half years ago (I think - lost
count!) when Damage was a very small concern. I liked all of the band from
the word go - they seemed very down-to-earth and friendly after some of
the artists I'd worked for in the past. So many of you have written in
asking about getting a job in the music business, and how I got started
etc., I'm trying to compile some notes. I'd have probably had it done for
this newsletter except that I've had to speed things up because of the
concert. When I've finished it, I'll let you know in a future letter, then
those of you who are interested can send me an s.a.e. for the notes - they
may be of some use if you're thinking of working in this business.
Have you got any calendars or t-shirts left? Yes, but not that many. If
you want a calendar, they're £5.00, and available to UK fans only.

own name and address! I will send out all I have left, and once stocks
have run out, you will simply get your cheques back. T-shirts are also

know the size you want (S, M, L or XL), and your name and address. Again,
if we run out, you will simply get your cheques back.
You can also still get a list of Mark's guitars, a plan and list of
Terry's drums, the "Communique" lyrics, and the "Twisting By The Pool" EP
lyrics. All you have to do is send me a stamped addressed envelope, and
let me know which you want - GUITARS, DRUMS, LYRICS 1 or LYRICS 2.
We don't have any photo-sets at this time, but I'm hoping to get a new set
together for later in the year, so will let you know (probably after the
June concert).
When ordering the above stuff, don't forget I will be dealing with ticket
bookings for the show first, so if you have a bit of a wait before you get
your goods, don't ring me up and yell at me!
Those of you who are still waiting for replies to letters you have sent in
in the past couple of months - don't despair. There were so many letters
here when I got back from Australia, I still haven't finished answering
them yet, I have about 120 left to do. I will get round to it as soon as
possible If you have sent in a penpal request or a "for sale/wanted"
request and it is not in this newsletter, it WILL be in the next one. I'm
rather pushed for space in this particular newsletter, since if I add any
more pages, it will be overweight postage-wise for all overseas
destinations!
Next newsletter (May) will probably also be early, so you receive any
additional details of the Wembley show in plenty of time.
