Hola a todo el mundo,

Sólo faltan dos días hasta que el grupo de su primer concierto en Yugoslavia (ya están ensayando las canciones que tocarán) así que ya os podéis imaginar lo horrible que han sido estos últimos meses. La mayoría de las noches hemos estado aquí hasta las 8 o las 9 de la noche e incluso en un par de ocasiones hasta pasadas las 12 de la noche!

Espero que todos los que pidieron los tickets a través de la lista los hayan recibido. Como seguramente habréis oído en la radio o en la televisión, los conciertos de Wembley han batido un record – los más rapidamente vendidos –y hemos añadido dos conciertos extras el 15 de Julio y el 16. Esto hará un total de 12 noches aquí –otro record! El lugar de venta tiene tantos pedidos para los conciertos primeramente anunciados, que nunca hablamos de estos dos conciertos adicionales ya que las entradas fueron a parar a la gente que no pudo conseguirlas para los primeros conciertos –y todavía hay un montón de pedidos. Además hemos añadido un concierto más en el NEC en Birgmingham el 1 de Julio que ya se ha vendido. La historia se ha repetido en toda Europa batiendo records de rapidez a la hora de venderse – igual que con el single el 22 aquí –las cosas parece que funcionan muy bien!!

Parece ser que el concierto benéfico Real el 4 de Julio va a ser una ocasión especial –probablemente tendremos algunos artistas invitados pero no os diremos quienes –esperar y ver…

El día antes del primer concierto de Birmingham estaremos en un almuerzo benéfico en el Hotel Intercontinental de Londres, donde el grupo estará como invitados de honor y es posible que ganen el premio a la banda del año, así que si todos aparecemos con los ojos un poco rojos en el NEC, ya sabréis por qué.

NOTICIAS TV

El grupo aparecerá en el Festival de TV Montreux junto con otros artistas incluyendo Bryan Ferry, Kool and The Gang, The Pointer Sisters, Dead or Alive, Philip Bailey, Howard Jones, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Swing, Paul Young etc, etc y está planeado para que se emita en la televisión en el Reino Unido el 26 o el 27 de Mayo (seguramente la segunda fecha) así que no olvidaros de verlo!

Aquellos que pidieron los Videos del Making Movies –siento el retraso! La mayoría de vosotros deberíais haberlos recibido ya. Hemos tenidos muchos problemas con Warner Home Video –El primer lote que recibieron no estaba sincronizada la imagen con el sonido e incluso en el lote que nosotros recibimos habían también algunos defectuosos.
No tuve tiempo de mirarlos uno por uno, así que espero que los que mandé estén en condiciones. Si no es así, llamarme e intentaré arreglarlo. La oferta de este video ya se ha cerrado, así que por favor, no enviar más dinero!

El LP se pondrá a la venta el 17 de Mayo. El título es Brothers in Arms. Y las canciones: So Far Away (el single), Money For Nothing, Walk Of Life, Your Latest Trick, Why Worry, Ride Across The River, The Man's Too Strong, One World y la canción que da nombre al disco. No voy a describirla (imposible) –decidid vosotros mismos y hacernos saber vuestros comentarios…

COSAS A TENER EN CUENTA

Mark acaba de hacer una entrevista para Sounds (para el ejemplar que saldrá la semana cuando se ponga el nuevo LP a la venta), y el suplemento a color del Sunday Express y el Time Out llevarán entrevistas en Julio, durante los conciertos en el Reino Unido.

ULTIMAS NOTICIAS

The Tube va a grabar a la banda en Israel y se planea que esto salga en la televisión en el Reino Unido el 21 de Junio (Midsummer Night´s Tube). Más detalles en mi próxima carta.

Ya es un 99% seguro que el grupo hará otra gira británica en otoño, para incluir las siguientes ciudades: Edinburgh, Newcastle, Manchester, Bristol, Shepton Mallet, Birmingham, Londres, Deeside y Belfast. Se planea que Dublín venga después… Una vez más, más información en la siguiente carta.

Seguramente me vaya a Atenas la semana que viene y me uniré a la gira por unos días, con lo que no estaré aquí si llamais!!

Dear everyone,
It's just two days to go till the group do their first show in Yugoslavia (they're there already rehearsing the set) so as you can imagine it has been pretty hectic here over the past couple of months. Most evenings we're here till 8.00 or 9.00 PM and on a couple of occasions we've been here past midnight!
I hope that by now all of you who ordered tickets through the mailing list have received them. As you may have heard on the radio or TV, the Wembley shows set a booking record - the fastest sell-out there ever - and we added two extra shows on July 15th and 16th. That makes a total of 12 nights there - another record! The box office has so many applications for the initial run of dates that we never even announced the additional shows as the tickets went to people who couldn't get tickets for the dates they asked for - and still there were a lot of applications over. We also added another show at the NEC in Birmingham on July 1st which has sold out. The story has been the same all over Europe with dates selling out in record time - so with the single at 22 here and going up - things seem to be going pretty well!
The Royal Charity show on July 4th looks like being a pretty special occasion - we will probably have some special guests appearing but I won't tell you who - wait and see...
The day before the first Birmingham show we are all attending a big charity luncheon at the Intercontinental Hotel in London, where the group are guests of honour and are likely to win the Band Of The Year award, so if we all look a bit red-eyed at the NEC you'll know why.
TV NEWS

Those of you who ordered Making Movies videos - sorry about the delay! Most of you should have by now received them. We have had incredible problems with Warner Home Video - the first batch they got had the picture out of sync with the sound, and even the batch we eventually got had a few faulty ones in it. I didn't have time to watch every single one, so I hope the ones I've sent out are all right. If not, give me a call and I will try and sort it out for you. The video offer is now closed, so please don't send me money!
Release date for the LP is now May 17th. Title is Brothers In Arms. LATE NEWS EXTRA
The Tube are filming the band in Israel and this is scheduled to be on TV in the UK on June 21st (Midsummer Night's Tube). More details in next letter.
It looks 99% certain that the group will do another British tour in the autumn, to include the following places: Edinburgh, Newcastle, Manchester, Bristol, Shepton Mallet, Birmingham, London, Deeside, and Belfast. Dublin is scheduled to follow after that... Again, more news follows.
I will probably be going to Athens next week to join the tour for a few days, so I won't be here if you call!
